Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel Product Liability Lawyers Earn Rare Chambers Spotlight Honors

Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel is the only Dallas-based law firm — plaintiff or defense side — recognized by the prestigious Chambers USA Spotlight in the London-based organization’s inaugural guide to product liability litigation in Texas.

The rigorous selection process used by Chambers and Partners is widely considered to be the gold standard for identifying and ranking the top law firms in legal markets around the world. The Spotlight regional guide is specifically designed to recognize “outstanding boutique and mid-size firms that deliver partner-level attention, deep regional knowledge, and cost-effective solutions for sophisticated legal work.”

For the 2025 guide, Chambers Spotlight added a category for product liability litigation, with Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel featured as the only Dallas firm to be selected.

The recognition follows a standout year for the firm’s trial lawyers, including:

  • Record benzene-exposure verdict against Exxon: In Gill v. Exxon, partners Patrick Wigle and Rajeev Mittal obtained a $725 million verdict against ExxonMobil on behalf of a former service station mechanic diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Jurors in that case found that Exxon had known about the dangers of benzene in gasoline and other petroleum-based products but failed to warn workers and the public.
  • Record Texas qui tam whistleblower settlement: Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel, secured a key appellate court ruling that three whistleblower clients were entitled to a portion of a record $212.3 million settlement. The December 2024 ruling was the latest development in litigation spanning more than 12 years over claims that Xerox State Healthcare, LLC (formerly known as ACS State Healthcare, LLC) submitted fraudulent Medicaid billing claims.
  • Justice for victims of child sex abuse: The firm secured separate seven-figure settlements for two women who attended Los Angeles-area public schools and were sexually assaulted by their seventh-grade social studies teacher.

In addition, WKPS attorneys represented sex abuse survivors who were part of a landmark $880 million settlement resolving more than 1,300 sex abuse lawsuits filed by individuals who were victimized by priests and other adults within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel also filed three high-profile lawsuits against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) on behalf of victims of child sexual abuse who claim a systemic coverup by church leadership enabled the abuse and failed to protect child victims.

  • Protecting workers and their families from toxic exposure: The firm continued in its leadership role in litigation on behalf of Boeing Company workers who have been exposed to toxic chemicals that threaten their health and increase risks of birth defects. The firm filed additional lawsuits on behalf of workers and won a closely watched ruling denying Boeing claims that it was not responsible for birth defects in workers’ unborn children.
