Biography
Charles Siegel is a partner in Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel’s Dallas office and one of the firm’s leading strategists and advocates. He heads the firm’s appellate, qui tam whistleblower and international litigation practices, playing a central role in the firm’s growth and success. His work has helped shape important legal precedents in mesothelioma and toxic exposure litigation, expand the firm’s ability to represent injury victims from around the world in U.S. courts, and establish its qui tam practice as one of the most successful and respected in the country.
Charles has been on the front lines of some of the firm’s most significant litigation. He has argued appeals in nine federal circuits, seven state supreme courts and numerous intermediate appellate courts around the country. He has appeared in state and federal trial courts in more than 30 states and in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. His appellate work has produced key rulings affecting mass tort and injury litigation, including cases involving mesothelioma and toxic exposure. That experience has also been instrumental in helping victims from other countries pursue justice in U.S. courts.
Charles built the firm’s qui tam whistleblower practice into a nationally recognized practice representing people who expose fraud, waste and abuse against the government. He represents whistleblowers in cases brought under the False Claims Act and other federal and state whistleblower laws, bringing the same intellectual rigor and determination to these cases that have defined his appellate practice.
His advocacy has extended beyond the courtroom. Charles has testified twice before the United States House of Representatives and before the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica, as well as many times before the Texas Legislature and other state legislatures. He is a frequent speaker at legal seminars in the United States and abroad and has served as a guest lecturer at law schools across the country and in Poland.
Charles considers himself fortunate to work every day on challenging cases and to represent clients whose interests he believes in. Whether his client is someone who has suffered a devastating physical injury, a widow whose spouse was killed, or a whistleblower who has exposed commercial fraud, Charles knows which side of the courtroom he wants to be on: the side of the person who has been harmed.
