Charles Siegel Elevated to Name Partner at Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel

Charles Siegel Partner Promotion

Susan Ulrich, Rajeev Mittal promoted to partner at Dallas-based trial litigation firm.

DALLAS — Veteran trial and appellate lawyer Charles Siegel has been elevated to name partner at the newly renamed Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel in a move that includes the promotions of Susan Ulrich and Rajeev Mittal to partner.

The promotions reflect the three lawyers’ significant contributions in a range of high-profile litigation in state and federal venues across the country. This includes record verdicts and settlements on behalf of individuals injured by exposure to cancer-causing asbestos, benzene and other toxic substances, as well as victims of childhood sexual abuse and qui tam whistleblowers exposing fraud in government spending.

Over the course of his career, Siegel has developed a reputation for creative and effective strategies in complex litigation and post-verdict appellate matters.

“When you look at the great work that this firm has accomplished, you often see how Charles shapes litigation strategy at all stages,” said firm co-founder Peter Kraus. “He is a guiding hand for clients and colleagues, and his contributions to our firm’s success have been countless.”

Siegel has argued appeals in nine of the federal circuits, seven state supreme courts and in numerous intermediate appellate venues. A lifetime partner at the firm, his contributions have perfected the firm’s contingent-fee model that allows individuals to fight powerful corporate interests and obtain justice. Most recently, Siegel secured a December 2023 federal court ruling that rejected an attempt by Carnival Cruise Line to move an Italian worker’s mesothelioma lawsuit to arbitration.

Ulrich and Mittal are each based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and focus their practices on helping people who have been catastrophically injured by asbestos and benzene exposure, as well as chemical exposure in the semiconductor and commercial and agriculture industries, and dangerous and defective medical devices. Rajeev’s practice includes qui tam whistleblower litigation. Ulrich’s practice includes helping victims of childhood sexual abuse obtain justice.

“Susan and Rajeev have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovative thinkers in complex litigation, and their work has helped our firm obtain justice for our clients and hold businesses and institutions accountable,” said Kevin Loew, managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. “We are excited about the contributions they will make as partners.”
